Getting it on the wall
Three measurements decide whether a canvas looks hung or looks stuck up. Galleries use all three, and none of them needs more than a tape measure.
Centre at 57 inches
Not the top, the centre. Fifty-seven inches from the floor is average standing eye level and it is what every gallery hangs to. Most people hang too high by about a foot.
Two thirds of the furniture
Over a sofa, a bed or a sideboard, the art should span roughly two thirds of the width below it, with a hand’s width — six to ten inches — of wall between them. An 84″ sofa wants about 56″ of canvas.
A group is one picture
Hanging several together? Leave two to three inches between them and then treat the whole block as a single piece — centre that at 57 inches. Tight, even gaps are what make a group read as deliberate.

How much does a canvas print cost in Canada?
Canvases start at $45 for an 8 × 8 inch and run to $520 for a 60 × 40 inch, across 55 sizes in eight aspect ratios. The price includes the gallery wrap, the pine stretcher frame and the UV satin coat, and shipping is free everywhere in Canada with no minimum order. The only paid extra is an optional external frame in white or black, at $200.
What size canvas should I get for above my sofa?
As a rule the canvas should span about two-thirds the width of the furniture below it. A standard three-seat sofa is roughly 84 inches wide, so aim for 50 to 60 inches of art. In our range that is a 48 × 24 inch panoramic at $199, a 45 × 30 inch at $200, or a 60 × 40 inch at $520 if the wall is tall and you want one commanding piece. How many sizes are there, and how do I choose?
Fifty-five, grouped into eight aspect ratios. Start from the shape of your photograph rather than the size: a phone photo is usually 4:3, a camera file is 3:2, a square crop from Instagram is 1:1, and a wide landscape suits 2:1 or 3:1. Pick the ratio that matches your file and you will not lose anything to cropping; then pick the size that fits the wall.
How long does a canvas print take to arrive?
Most orders are printed, stretched and packed within one business day. Delivery after that is typically 2 to 3 business days in Ontario, Quebec and the Prairies, 3 to 5 to British Columbia and Atlantic Canada, and up to 7 business days to Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Delivery is free on every order.
What resolution does my photo need to be?
Work to roughly 100 pixels per inch of finished canvas — divide your photo's pixel width by 100 and that is the widest print it fills cleanly. A 2000-pixel-wide phone photo comfortably makes a 20 inch canvas. If a file is too small for the size you picked, we tell you before printing rather than after, and you can choose a smaller canvas or send a different file.
What happens at the edges of the canvas?
You choose one of four wrap styles. Mirror reflects the outer band of the image around the sides so nothing on the front is lost. Blur softens the edges around the wrap. Fill continues the image around the sides. White leaves the sides clean. Mirror and White are the safest when faces sit near the edge of the frame.
What is the difference between ¾ inch and 1½ inch?
That is the depth of the wooden stretcher bar behind the canvas. Three-quarter inch sits close to the wall and suits smaller pieces and groups of canvases hung together. One-and-a-half inch stands off the wall and throws a shadow line, which is what makes a large canvas read as art rather than an enlarged photo. There is also a Canvas Roll option, printed and shipped unstretched.
Will a canvas print fade?
Not in a normal room. We print with archival pigment ink on acid-free cotton–polyester canvas and seal every print with a UV-blocking satin coat, then back it with a lifetime warranty against fading, cracking, warping and peeling. Keep it off a wall in direct all-day sun and it will outlast the furniture under it.
Can I return a canvas if I don't like it?
REPLACE — state your actual policy here. Because every canvas is made to order from your own photograph, most printers limit returns to manufacturing defects rather than change of mind. Whatever your policy is, say it plainly: this is the question that decides the order for a first-time customer, and a vague answer costs you the sale.
Do you print anywhere outside Canada?
No. Everything is printed, stretched, packed and shipped inside Canada, priced in Canadian dollars. There is no cross-border shipping, no duty, no brokerage fee and no exchange-rate surprise on your card statement — which is the part people usually find out about after ordering from a US printer.
