Your total is calculated again at checkout, and that figure is the one that governs. All 55 sizes and the full price ladder are on the Custom Canvas Print page.

Alberta conditions

Chinooks, and the driest indoor air in Canada

Alberta is the hardest province in Canada on a wooden frame, and the reason is the Chinook. A twenty-degree temperature swing inside a single afternoon, several times a winter, is a stress cycle nothing else in the country delivers. On top of that, a heated Prairie home in January can sit at fifteen percent relative humidity, which is drier than most deserts.

What to do about it. A canvas will pull noticeably tighter through a Calgary or Edmonton winter. Leave it alone. Reach for the tensioning keys in June if it still needs them, not in January when the wood is at its driest and the canvas is already at maximum tension.

Turquoise lakes, foothills and enormous sky

Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, the Icefields Parkway, the foothills southwest of Calgary, ranch land under a Chinook arch, and Jasper in the dark for the aurora. Alberta sends us more mountain landscapes than every other province combined.

Which shape suits it

A Chinook arch is a horizontal event. The 3:1 and 4:1 ratios are the only ones wide enough to carry it, and a 48×16″ over a sideboard does the job properly.

What we guarantee on every order to Alberta

01

We check the file before we print it

A person opens every upload and measures the resolution against the size ordered. Too small and you get an email with the largest size it will carry, before anything is charged.

02

Damaged in transit means a reprint

The longer the route, the more this matters. Send a photo of the box and the canvas and a replacement goes into production the same day at no cost. You keep the original.

03

The warranty has no end date

Fading, cracking, warping and peeling are covered for as long as the canvas is on your wall — which, in Alberta, is the clause that earns its keep.

Canvas printing in Alberta: your questions

The eight things buyers in Alberta ask before they order.

All questions
How long does a canvas print take to arrive in Alberta?

Printing and stretching takes one business day, and delivery to Alberta then takes 2–3 business days on top of that. Calgary and Edmonton are the fastest addresses in the province. Fort McMurray, High Level and the far northwest add a day or two. Mountain-park addresses such as Banff, Jasper and Canmore deliver normally, weather permitting. Delivery is free on every order with no minimum and no rural surcharge.

How much is sales tax on a canvas print in Alberta?

Alberta pays 5% federal GST and no provincial sales tax at all. On a 24 by 18 inch canvas at $120 that comes to $126.00 delivered, because shipping is free and is not itself taxed. Rates were checked on 25 September 2026; the total is calculated again at checkout, which is the figure that governs.

Is delivery to Alberta really free?

Yes, on every order, with no minimum. There is no surcharge for a rural route, a small community or a northern address, and because the canvas is printed and stretched in Canada it never crosses a border — so there is no duty, no brokerage fee and no exchange-rate surprise on the card statement, which is the part people usually find out about after ordering from an American printer.

Will Alberta's climate damage a canvas print?

Alberta is the hardest province in Canada on a wooden frame, and the reason is the Chinook. A twenty-degree temperature swing inside a single afternoon, several times a winter, is a stress cycle nothing else in the country delivers. On top of that, a heated Prairie home in January can sit at fifteen percent relative humidity, which is drier than most deserts. A canvas will pull noticeably tighter through a Calgary or Edmonton winter. Leave it alone. Reach for the tensioning keys in June if it still needs them, not in January when the wood is at its driest and the canvas is already at maximum tension.

What size canvas should I order?

Work from the furniture rather than the wall. Whatever the canvas hangs above, aim for about two thirds of its width in art — a standard 84 inch three-seat sofa wants 50 to 60 inches of canvas. There are 55 sizes from $45 to $520, and the size tool on the Custom Canvas page draws each one to scale against a sofa. A Chinook arch is a horizontal event. The 3:1 and 4:1 ratios are the only ones wide enough to carry it, and a 48×16″ over a sideboard does the job properly.

What resolution does my photo need?

Roughly 100 pixels for every finished inch, so divide your photo's pixel width by 100 and that is the widest canvas it fills cleanly. A recent phone photo at about 4000 pixels across comfortably makes a 40 inch canvas. If a file will not carry the size ordered, you get an email before anything is printed rather than a soft canvas on the wall afterwards.

Is there a Save on Canvas store to visit in Alberta?

Save on Canvas is an online studio rather than a retail shop. Everything is ordered through the website — upload the photograph, choose the size and the edge treatment, and the finished canvas is delivered free to your Alberta address in 2–3 days. There is nothing to drive to and nothing to collect.

What is the return policy on a canvas print?

Every canvas is made to order from your own photograph, so the terms are set out in full on the Return & Refund Policy page rather than summarised here — read it before you order. If a canvas arrives damaged, contact us with a photograph of the packaging and the print and we will sort it out.
